Thane, Jun 6 A Thane court has acquitted 10 persons in a 2013 attempt to murder and rioting case after the complainant as well as multiple injured witnesses stated they could not identify the attackers.
The 10, siblings from two families, were booked by Mumbra police following a violent clash on December 12 that year over a longstanding land and sand dredging dispute. They were accused of intercepting the vehicles of the victims on Diva-Agasan road and assaulting them with swords, choppers, and wooden rods with the intent to kill.
However, during cross-examination, complainant Rajkumar Mhatre and six other injured witnesses failed to support the prosecution's case, following which Additional Sessions Judge RS Bhakare acquitted the accused.
