Faridabad, Jul 28 A court in Faridabad has sentenced four men to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment each after convicting them in a 2022 gang-rape case, with police saying forensic and technical evidence secured the conviction despite the victim turning hostile during trial.
Additional Sessions Judge Purushottam Kumar convicted Prashant Kumar alias Alok, Manjeet, Rishiraj, and Pankaj in the case registered at Adarsh Nagar Police Station in July 2022. Police had filed a chargesheet on September 27, 2022.
Deputy District Attorney Rekha Jangra said the survivor did not support her earlier statement in court. However, the prosecution relied on scientific, technical and forensic evidence to establish the case.
"Following the conclusion of the trial, the court convicted all four accused on Monday and sentenced each of them to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment," she said.
