Kota (Raj), Sep 17 Four people were sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here on Thursday for murdering a dairy products delivery driver. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each convict.
The convicts were identified as Jugal Kishore, Naval Kumar, Golu Kumar and Rakesh, all residents of Bundi district.
The case dates back to December 31, 2022, when Jamnashankar, a resident of Kota Khurd, lodged a police complaint following an attack on his son Hariom, who worked as a driver for a local milk dairy vehicle, near Makhida T-junction by four to five armed men.
Hariom was left critically injured on the road and later succumbed to injuries.
Following the investigation, Gendoli police station filed a chargesheet against the accused.
During the trial, Public Prosecutor Bhupendra Saxena produced 23 witnesses and 83 documentary exhibits.
The Additional District and Sessions Court No. 2 found all four accused guilty under sections 302/34 (murder with common intention) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
Rakesh was also convicted under Section 4/25 of the Arms Act and sentenced to an additional one year in prison and fined Rs 1,000. All sentences will run concurrently.
Rakesh was in judicial custody since his arrest, while the other three convicts were taken into custody after the verdict and sent to prison to serve their sentences.
