New Delhi, May 13 Senior advocate and Bar leader Adish C Aggarwala on Thursday addressed a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking lifelong security protection for retired judges of the Supreme Court and high courts.
He also sought security for a minimum period of 10 years for retired judicial officers of the district judiciary.
Aggarwala, chairman of All India Bar Association (AIBA), said in his communication that judges discharge highly sensitive judicial and constitutional functions and often render judgments that may displease litigating parties, criminal elements or influential persons.
As a consequence, many judges continue to face threats, hostility, resentment and danger even after retirement, the former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) said.
