Prayagraj, Mar 10 The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday adjourned till April 15 hearing on a plea seeking an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey of the ablution area of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi.
Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal was hearing the civil revision petition filed by Rakhi Singh, one of the plaintiffs before a Varanasi court.
The petition challenges the October 21, 2023 order of the Varanasi district judge rejecting a plea seeking directions to the ASI to conduct a survey of the wazukhana or ablution area, excluding the structure claimed by the Hindu side to be a 'Shivlinga' and by the Muslim side as a fountain.
The court adjourned the hearing after counsel for the parties informed that the matter is engaging the attention of the Supreme Court.
