Baghpat (UP), Jun 6 A court here has sentenced two men to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each for the 2022 murder of a youth, police said on Saturday.
According to police, Lokendra and Ashish, residents of Malkpur village in the Baraut police station area, were accused of shooting dead Vishal, the complainant's son, in 2022. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for murder and under the Arms Act.
Police said the case was identified under the Uttar Pradesh Police's "Operation Conviction" campaign and was pursued through coordinated efforts of the police and prosecution.
Following the trial, Sessions Judge Manoj Kumar III on Saturday found both accused guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each convict, police added.
