Kolkata, Sep 8 The Calcutta High Court will on Thursday hear a petition by members of a Leftist peasants' organisation seeking permission to hold a rally at Raina in West Bengal's Purba Bardhaman district.
Mentioning the matter before the court on Tuesday for an urgent hearing, All India Kisan Sabha's lawyer claimed that the police authorities did not respond to its application and subsequent reminder seeking permission to hold the rally on September 11.
Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya said the matter will be taken up for hearing as an urgent motion on September 10.
The lawyer for the AIKS stated that the application was made on August 31 and the reminder was sent on September 3.
The All India Kisan Sabha is a Leftist peasants' organisation.
