Court in UP's Etah sentences four men to life imprisonment in 2016 murder case

Etah (UP), Jul 17 A local court here has sentenced four men to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 each in connection with a 2016 murder case, police said on Friday.


According to the police, the judgment was delivered by the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Anil Kumar under the state's "Operation Conviction" campaign.


The case pertains to the murder of a man in Nidholi Kalan police station area on August 23, 2016. An FIR was lodged on August 30, 2016 on a complaint by the victim's brother, alleging that the accused had shot dead his sibling following a dispute.


During the investigation, police chargesheeted Pancham, Bhupendra, Harendra and Manoj, all residents of Hussainpur Kartala village in Etah district. The chargesheet was filed before the court on October 28, 2016.


Following the trial, the court convicted all four accused and awarded life imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs 25,000 on each of them, the police said.
