New Delhi, Jul 23 A Delhi court on Thursday sought a detailed status report from police in connection with the alleged robbery of a practising advocate near Akshardham and directed the station house officer concerned to personally supervise the investigation.
Judicial Magistrate First Class Amit Rana was hearing a plea filed by complainant Karan Mishra, an advocate who was allegedly robbed by two motorcycle-borne persons when he was returning home from work.
In an order, the court said, "The IO concerned is directed to file a detailed status report qua the investigation in the present FIR. Keeping in mind that the applicant is an advocate the detailed status report be submitted through SHO concerned. SHO concerned is also directed to personally supervise the investigation."
According to the complaint, Mishra was returning home on the evening of June 27 when two motorcycle-borne persons allegedly intercepted him on NH-24 and fled after snatching his bag.
The complainant alleged that the bag contained a laptop, Bar Council identity card, advocate's stamp, wallet and other valuables collectively worth around Rs 2 lakh.
Mishra claimed the stolen laptop contained years of legal work and confidential professional material, including documents from his tenure as a judicial law clerk-cum-researcher with a judge of the Delhi High Court.
He also alleged that after the incident, he received repeated phishing messages in an apparent attempt to gain access to the data stored on the laptop.
The complainant submitted before the court that despite registration of an FIR, no substantial progress had been made in identifying the accused, recovering the stolen articles or advancing the investigation.
Taking note of the submissions, the court directed the investigating officer to file a detailed status report by the next date of hearing and asked the SHO concerned to personally monitor the probe.
The matter has been listed for further proceedings on August 1.
