Delhi High Court Oversees Implementation of NextGen e-Hospital Management System

Court Directs Live Demonstration and Addresses Concerns at Delhi State Cancer Institute

In a significant move to enhance healthcare management in the capital, the Delhi High Court, under the bench of Ms. Prathiba M. Singh and Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora, has monitored the implementation of the NextGen e-Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) across 38 hospitals in Delhi. The system, which includes 14 essential modules such as OPD, IPD, and MRD, has been successfully deployed, marking a significant step towards digital healthcare administration.

The court, during a hearing conducted via hybrid mode, was informed by an affidavit from the Deputy Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, GNCTD, that the HMIS has been installed in numerous hospitals including Acharyashree Bhikshu Govt Hospital and Ambedkar Nagar Hospital. The system aims to streamline operations and improve patient care with modules that cover comprehensive hospital management functionalities.

A notable feature of the system is the 'Delhi ICU Beds Saarthi' mobile application, facilitating real-time access to ICU bed data across the city. This application is available on the Google Play Store and is undergoing enhancements to ensure better service delivery.

The High Court has directed a live demonstration of the HMIS and the ICU Beds Saarthi application on the next hearing date. Additionally, representatives from the hospitals will join the proceedings to discuss any implementation challenges.

Addressing concerns about the Delhi State Cancer Institute, the court noted issues of unused medical equipment due to a shortage of trained personnel, leading to treatment delays. The GNCTD has been instructed to investigate these concerns, with senior officials expected to participate in the next court session.

Moreover, an application by a resident regarding issues at Ambedkar Nagar Hospital was disposed of, with the court directing the Amicus Curiae to include these concerns in future representations.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for July 3, 2026, to review the progress and address outstanding issues.

Bottom line:-

Implementation of NextGen e-Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) across 38 hospitals in Delhi, deployment of 14 essential modules, and accessibility of ICU bed data through 'Delhi ICU Beds Saarthi' mobile application.
