New Delhi, Aug 6 Former Manipur High Court chief justice Siddharth Mridul on Thursday filed his nomination papers for the post of president in the Supreme Court Bar Association elections.
Mridul, accompanied by his supporters, filed the nomination papers.
He was sworn in as the chief justice of the Manipur High Court on October 20, 2023 and retired on November 21, 2024. He subsequently resumed his practice as senior advocate in the Supreme Court.
Before his elevation as Manipur High Court chief justice, Mridul served as a Delhi High Court judge since May 2009.
The elections for the bar body of the Supreme Court are scheduled for August 18.
Additionally, senior advocate Anupam Lal Das has filed his nomination papers to contest for the post of president for the upcoming SCBA polls.
His candidature was proposed by senior advocates Shekhar Naphade and Ratnakar Dash.
