Panna (MP), Jul 24 Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday said fast-track courts would be set up in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur cities for speedy hearing of paper leak cases, and to ensure swift justice and stringent punishment to the culprits.
The CM's announcement came a day after the Centre assured to set up fast-track courts to hear cases related to malpractices in examinations, including the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG), amid widespread protests by students and activists over the medical entrance exam paper leak in May and to seek accountability for irregularities.
Addressing a public programme here, Yadav said PM Modi announced the creation of fast-track courts to ensure swift justice and stringent punishment to those involved in paper leak cases, asserting that nothing was more important than the welfare and future of the country's youth.
Those who played with the students' future would not be spared, he said.
He also said that Panna Medical College would be inaugurated next year, providing NEET aspirants an opportunity to pursue medical education in the district.
Referring to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Yadav said the Madhya Pradesh legislative assembly had passed a bill to that effect, and asserted that a common law for all citizens would ensure equal rights irrespective of religion.
The proposed law would also provide relief to Muslim women in divorce matters by making court intervention mandatory, he added.
On employment, Yadav said the state had sanctioned nearly 10,000 new posts in the police department and recruited 8,000 personnel last year.
More than one lakh government jobs had been created in the state, he said, adding that the government was promoting tourism, industry, dairy farming and fisheries to generate more employment.
Highlighting the Ken-Betwa river-linking project, he said the Centre had approved 90 per cent funding for the Rs 1 lakh crore inter-state project, which would transform the Bundelkhand region by boosting irrigation and farmers' prosperity.
He assured adequate compensation to the people whose land, houses or shops were acquired for such projects.
During the programme, Yadav transferred nearly Rs 210 crore into the accounts of more than 35 lakh beneficiaries under the Social Security Pension Scheme. He also distributed certificates to beneficiaries of various government schemes and self-reliant gram panchayats.
The CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development works worth Rs 184.83 crore, including two Sandipani schools at Gunnor and Pawai built at a cost of Rs 74 crore.
He also inaugurated a glass-floor viewpoint and other tourism infrastructure developed at Brihaspati Kund at a cost of Rs 8 crore, saying the facility would attract domestic and foreign tourists.
According to the CM, migration from Bundelkhand had been checked and claimed the region would emerge as one of the country's most prosperous agricultural belts after the river-linking project.
