HP: 3 sentenced to up to 10 years in jail by court in Kullu for sexually exploiting girl

Shimla, Jul 15 Three persons were sentenced to varied jail terms up to 10 years by a court in Kullu in an eight-year-old case relating to the sexual exploitation and trafficking of a girl, officials said.


The orders were passed by Special Judge-I, Kullu, against the accused Shiv Shankar alias Sikandar Singh, Nitin Jain alias Manu and the girl's mother, Baby Khan, they said.


According to the officials, the case relating to the sexual exploitation and trafficking of the minor was registered in Manali on April 29, 2018.


The court sentenced Shankar to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 20,000 each under varied sections of the IPC and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Additionally, the court also sentenced him to five years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5,000 under Section 370-A(1)of the IPC, and three years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 3,000 under Section 506 of the IPC.


Jain was sentenced to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 20,000 ­each under relevant sections of the IPC and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act; five years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5,000 under Section 370-A(1) of the IPC; three years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 3,000 under Section 506 IPC; and seven years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 17 of the POCSO Act.


The girl's mother, Baby Khan, was sentenced to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 20,000 each under varied sections of the IPC and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act; five years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5,000 under Section 370-A(1) of the IPC; and seven years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 17 of the POCSO Act.
