Ranchi, Sep 3 The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday pulled up the state government over the delay in filling the vacant posts of JPSC chairman and members.
The court directed the government to inform it by when the vacant posts in the constitutional body would be filled.
The matter will be heard again on September 10.
During the hearing, the court observed that the JPSC is a constitutional body and its chairman's post cannot remain vacant for a prolonged period.
The post of JPSC chairman has remained vacant since July 21, when former chairman L Khiangte demitted office.
The HC had taken suo motu cognisance of the issue and initiated proceedings in the matter.
Khiangte was appointed JPSC chairman in February last year after he retired as the chief secretary.
He was arrested on August 10, a day after all three JPSC members resigned amid massive protests by aspirants over the alleged irregularities in recruitment tests conducted by the CID.
