Bengaluru, Aug 7 The Karnataka High Court on Friday restrained the state from filing a chargesheet in the alleged KPSC Veterinary Officers recruitment scam without its prior permission.
The court posted the matter for August 20 for hearing.
Justice M Nagaprasanna passed the interim order while hearing petitions seeking, among other things, a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in KPSC recruitment.
The direction followed apprehensions raised by the petitioners that the chargesheet could be filed before the court considered their pleas.
The State Public Prosecutor sought 10 days to file objections and submitted the status of the investigations being conducted by the Vidhana Soudha police and the CID.
"The final report in the cases at hand, notwithstanding the fact of completion of investigations, shall not be filed without the leave of the court," the court said.
The CID is investigating the recruitment of 400 Veterinary Officers -- 342 regular and 58 backlog posts -- following a complaint lodged with the Vidhana Soudha police on July 24, after which the case was transferred to the agency.
The state also told the court that no coercive action would be taken against successful candidates who cooperate with the investigation. If such action becomes necessary, the state would seek the court's permission before proceeding, it said.
