Ketan Agrawal murder: accused's judicial custody extended

LAW FINDER NEWS NETWORK |

Pune, Jul 16 A court at Vadgaon Maval in the district on Thursday extended the judicial custody of Siya Goyal and her 'lover' Chetan Chaudhary in the alleged murder of 25-year-old Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal.

Judicial magistrate (First Class) A M Vibhute extended the judicial custody of Goyal (20) and Chaudhary (22) for another 14 days.

Both the accused appeared before the judge through video conference from prison.

Chaudhary's lawyer Radhikesh Uttarwar moved two applications before the court, seeking to declare his client's arrest illegal and preserve the CCTV footage of the entry and exit of the office of the Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural. The footage should be produced before the court within 15 days, he demanded.

According to the defence, Chaudhary was brought to the SP office 12 hours prior to the official registration of the FIR, hence his arrest was illegal.

The court rejected the first plea (to declare the arrest illegal) but directed that the CCTV footage should be preserved, Advocate Uttarwar told reporters.

Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are accused of pushing her fiance Agrawal off a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune district on June 18 during a trek, leading to his death.
