Land deal case: J'khand CM moves HC against rejection of plea for criminal proceeding discharge

Ranchi, Aug 31 Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday moved the high court, challenging a Special PMLA court's rejection of his petition that sought discharge from criminal proceedings in connection with a land deal case.

The Special Judge, Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Ranchi, rejected his petition on June 8, following which he approached the high court through a revision plea.

The Enforcement Directorate has registered a money laundering case in connection with the alleged illegal acquisition and transfer of 8.86 acres of land in the Bargain area of Ranchi.

According to the allegations, the land was fraudulently transferred in favour of Soren.

Soren has denied the allegations against him and challenged the trial court's decision to reject his discharge plea, his lawyer said.

The Special PMLA Court has already proceeded with the case and framed charges against co-accused Antu Tirkey, architect Vinod Kumar Singh and 15 others.
