Latur, Sep 4 A special POCSO court in Udgir in Latur district sentenced a man to 20 years in jail for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl.
Special POCSO Court Judge LP Pachhe found Krishna Avinash Biradar (21), a resident of Belsakarga in Udgir tehsil, guilty under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Biradar had lured the girl to his home with a packet of chips, sexually assaulted her and then threatened to kill her if she disclosed the ordeal to anyone. The incident took place last year.
Biradar was also fined Rs 20,000, which if not paid would see the sentence being enhanced by six months.
