Lucknow, Jul 31 Barely two days after assuming charge as the Commissioner of Police, Lucknow, Tarun Gauba appeared before the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Friday in compliance with a summons issued by the court.
The bench had directed his personal appearance after the local police failed to file instructions in a criminal matter despite being granted two opportunities.
Appearing before the court, the commissioner of police assured the bench that the government counsel would henceforth receive timely instructions to ensure that responses are filed within the stipulated time.
A division bench of Justice Abdul Moin and Justice Pramod Kumar Srivastava was hearing a petition filed by Om Prakash Gupta.
According to the plea, in an FIR registered at the Bazar Khala police station in 2025 on charges of cheating, forgery and criminal intimidation, the investigating officer, instead of submitting the investigation report before the competent magistrate after completing the probe, forwarded it for "legal opinion", resulting in a delay in filing the final report.
