Muzaffarnagar (UP), Sep 28 A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district on Monday sentenced a man to 10 years’ imprisonment for abducting and raping a 15-year-old girl, officials said.
Additional District Judge Ashok Bhartendu also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict after holding him guilty under sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage against her will) and 376 (punishment for rape) of the IPC and the POCSO Act.
Government council Sanjay Chauhan told PTI that the offence was committed in the Jhinjhana police station area of Shamli district on July 30, 2020.
