Man sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in Hamirpur for raping minor

Hamirpur(HP), Aug 17 A local court here in Hamirpur has sentenced a convict to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a Rs 50,000 fine for raping a minor.


The judge ordered that failure to pay the fine would result in an additional one year of simple imprisonment.


Furthermore, a sentence of five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 was imposed under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and failure to pay fine would entail three months of simple imprisonment.


The incident had taken place on September 25, 2024. According to the prosecution, the girl had gone to a shop when the accused made her sit on his scooter and took her to a nearby forest, where he raped her.


He also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone. At the time of the incident, the girl was 15 years of age, while the accused was 26 years old.


The girl later informed her family about the incident, after which the matter was reported to the Women's Police Station, Hamirpur.


During the hearing, the prosecution presented statements of 26 witnesses in court, after which he was found guilty.
