Gonda, Oct 30 A court in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday sentenced a man to life imprisonment in connection with throwing acid on three sisters and also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh.
Special Public Prosecutor Krishna Pratap Singh said that Gurai, a resident of Paska village under Parsapur police station area, had filed a complaint alleging that on the intervening night of October 12 and October 13, 2020, an unidentified person climbed onto the roof of his house and threw acid on his three daughters -- Khushboo, Komal, and Anchal -- while they were asleep.
Singh said that all three sisters sustained severe burn injuries in the attack. The eldest daughter, Khushboo, suffered extensive facial burns that left her face disfigured, and she also lost vision in one of her eyes.
He further explained that the police investigation identified Ashish Jaiswal, a fellow villager, as the perpetrator. Jaiswal was infatuated with Khushboo and, angered by the fact that her marriage had been arranged elsewhere, he carried out the acid attack on the three sisters.
Special Judge (Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act) Alok Sharma held Ashish Jaiswal guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh, Special Public Prosecutor Krishna Pratap Singh said.
