Bareilly (UP), Aug 13 A court in Bareilly has sentenced three men to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 each in a 28-year-old murder case, a prosecution lawyer said on Thursday.

Special Judge (SC/ST Act) Abhay Kumar Srivastava convicted Ramgopal (65), Jaipal (60) and Nanhey (62) after hearing both sides and pronounced the sentence on Wednesday, prosecution lawyer Swatantra Pathak said.

According to the prosecution, on October 25, 1998, the three accused took a labourer identified as Mohan Lal with them on the pretext of offering him work in the Bahedi police station area.

They then killed him and concealed his body, Pathak said.

The court, after considering the evidence and hearing the arguments of the prosecution and defence, found all three guilty of murder and awarded them life imprisonment along with the fine, he said.
