Shamli (UP), Sep 1 A local court in Kairana in Shamli district has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering a cousin in a drain dispute 15 years ago, a lawyer said on Tuesday.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Naveen Kumar Singh convicted Devisingh on Monday and fined him Rs 20,000, prosecution counsel Sanjay Chauhan told PTI.
The victim, according to the case, was Rajesh, who was gunned down in a fight over a drain by his uncle Nilu and his son Devisingh in Issopur Khurgan village on August 31, 2011.
During the pendency of the trial, Nilu died, Chauhan said.
