T'gana HC suspends single-judge order on replacement of HYDRAA Commissioner

Hyderabad, Sep 1 The Telangana High Court on Tuesday suspended until November 3 an order passed by a single judge directing replacement of HYDRAA Commissioner A V Ranganath.

Ranganath challenged the July 27 single judge order directing the Chief Secretary to relieve him from the post of Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) Commissioner and find a suitable replacement.

After hearing the arguments, the division bench of Justices P Sam Koshy and Narsing Rao Nandikonda on Tuesday suspended the single judge order until next date of hearing on November 3.

The single judge had ordered the replacement of Ranganath, rejecting an apology offered by him in connection with three contempt petitions moved against him by a real estate company. The company alleged violation of court orders by HYDRAA.

The single judge pointed out that as many as 63 contempt cases are pending against the HYDRAA Commissioner in courts.

The single judge gave the directive while hearing the contempt petitions filed by the company with regard to 40-acre land claimed by it in Lothukunta village near here.

In one of the contempt petitions, the company recently alleged that the officers of HYDRAA have been repeatedly trespassing its property.
