Shamli (UP), Aug 17 A court here on Monday sentenced three people, including a dismissed police constable and his brother, to life imprisonment for abducting and shooting dead a man and his son over a money dispute in 2022.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Surender Kumar Arya convicted dismissed constable Vikrant, his brother Arjun and their associate Monu under Sections 302, 364, 201 and 342 of the IPC and imposed a fine of Rs 61,000 on each of them.
The court also sentenced Virendra, father of Vikrant, to five years in prison under Section 364 of the IPC and imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on him.
District Government Counsel Sanjay Chauhan told PTI that Bhupendra and his son Arjun were abducted and held hostage before being shot dead by the accused following a money dispute at Makhlompur village under Kandhla police station in Shamli district on April 6, 2022.
A complaint was lodged by Suresh Devi, mother of Bhupendra, against Vikrant, his brother Arjun, their father Virendra and Monu.
The accused have been in jail since the incident.
The court ordered that 90 per cent of the fine amount recovered from the convicts be paid to the deceased’s mother and wife.
