New Delhi, Aug 27 Three judicial officers were elevated to judges of the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday.
A notification regarding their appointments was issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice.
Chirag Bhanu Singh, currently District & Sessions Judge, Kangra at Dharamshala, was appointed as a judge, while Bhupesh Sharma and Yogesh Jaswal were appointed as additional judges.
Additional judges are usually appointed for a period of two years before being made judges, or what is popularly called 'permanent judges'.
Sharma is currently Registrar General of the High Court and Jaswal the District & Sessions Judge, Sirmaur.
Singh was appointed Additional District & Sessions Judge in 2007 and served as Deputy Advocate General for Himachal Pradesh from 2003. Over the years, he has served as a judge of the Himachal Pradesh Industrial Tribunal-cum-Labour Court, District & Sessions Judge, Chamba, Principal Secretary (Lokayukta), and OSD to the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh.
He was District & Sessions Judge, Bilaspur, from June 2023 to October 2025, before taking over as District & Sessions Judge, Kangra at Dharamshala, where he has been posted since.
