Jaunpur (UP), Sep 10 Three men were sentenced to life imprisonment by a district court here on Thursday for murdering a 45-year-old farmer in February last year.
"District and Sessions Judge Sushil Kumar Shashi convicted Gama Bind alias Vikas, 25; Amit Bind, 26; and Deepak Yadav, 29," District Government Counsel Lal Bahadur Pal said.
According to the prosecution, Bhupendra Singh, a resident of Sandaha village under Sarai Khwaja police station, was returning home after attending a Ramayana programme and having a meal in the village on February 5, 2025, when he was attacked following an old enmity.
The accused allegedly assaulted him with sticks and inserted a beer bottle into his abdomen, causing his death.
A case was registered against the three accused. Police subsequently completed the investigation and filed a chargesheet before the court.
The prosecution presented evidence and examined witnesses during the trial. After hearing the matter, the court held the three accused, all residents of Sandaha village, guilty under the relevant provisions and awarded them life imprisonment.
