LAW FINDER NEWS NETWORK |

Thane, Aug 16 A Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Maharashtra’s Thane district has awarded compensation of Rs 23.83 lakh to a 45-year-old man who lost an arm in a road accident over four years ago.

A copy of the order dated August 13 by Tribunal Member V S Deshmukh from Kalyan was made available on Sunday.

According to the claim, Jagan Rama Jadhav was riding a scooter on the Kalyan-Murbad road when a truck crashed into his two-wheeler. His left arm was severed in the accident.

While the insurance company sought to blame Jadhav, the tribunal held that the spot inspection and FIR clearly established that the truck driver was at fault.

It said the victim had lost his earning capacity by 60 per cent.

The tribunal ordered that Rs 23.83 lakh be paid to Jadhav as compensation with 6 per cent interest per annum from the date of application until its realisation.
