Budaun (UP), Sep 8 Eleven years after a land feud turned fatal, a local court on Tuesday sentenced four men, including a father-son duo, to life imprisonment for shooting a man dead inside his residence.
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Rinku Jindal also imposed a fine of Rs 33,000 on convict Avnish, and Rs 31,000 each on his father Brijraj and two others Rajiv and Satyapal, Special Public Prosecutor Sanjeev Kumar Gupta said.
According to the prosecution, the incident took place on June 14, 2015 at Isapur village in Budaun district.
In a complaint, victim's brother Arvesh mentioned that his family had a longstanding land dispute with Brijraj and his family.
Around 6.45 am on June 14, Brijraj, son Avnish and two others allegedly entered Arvesh's house, brandishing firearms and abusing the family members.
Arvesh's 30-year-old brother Narendra Singh, who was sleeping on the terrace, woke up hearing the commotion. The four accused allegedly opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.
After an 11-year trial, the court convicted all the four accused and awarded them life imprisonment, Gupta said.
