Muzaffarnagar, Oct 14 A court here has sentenced a woman and her brother-in-law to life imprisonment for murdering her husband in June 2023, a lawyer said on Wednesday.
The two convicts were involved in a relationship, according to the prosecution.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Vijay Kumar also imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 each on the convicts, identified as Ashiya, wife of the deceased Shakir, and Suhail, her brother-in-law, government counsel Ashish Kumar Tyagi told PTI.
The court convicted them under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the erstwhile Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Shakir was strangled to death by Ashiya with the help of Suhail on June 6, 2023, in Mandla village after he allegedly found the two in an objectionable situation, the prosecution stated.
Both the convicts have been in jail since the incident.
