Nainital, Oct 28 The Uttarakhand High Court on Wednesday heard a petition filed by Girdhari Lal Sahu, husband of Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya, seeking a stay on his arrest and quashing of the criminal case registered against him.
After hearing the matter, the court declined to grant him any interim relief for the time being and directed that the case be placed before another bench. The matter was heard by a single bench of Justice Pankaj Purohit.
As per the case, Sahu has contended in his petition that all the allegations levelled against him in the FIR are false and that he has been wrongly implicated. He stated that he married the complainant in 2004 and that they have been together since then.
The FIR alleges that Sahu married the complainant by falsely representing himself as unmarried, even though he was already married at the time. It has further been alleged that he committed forgery by fabricating her signatures and removed her as a director from several companies. He has also been accused of threatening to kill her and using caste-based derogatory remarks against her.
On the other hand, he claimed that after Rekha Arya became a minister, she allegedly amassed illegal assets worth Rs 210 crore and that Sahu had sought a high-level inquiry into the matter. He contended that the FIR was lodged against him falsely in retaliation for raising the issue.
