Gurugram, Sep 11 A POCSO Court in Nuh convicted an accused in a case involving the abduction of a minor female student and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment, police said.
The court of Dr Ashu Sanjeev Tinjan, Additional Sessions Judge and Judge of the Fast Track Special POCSO court, also imposed a fine of Rs 33,000 on the convict.
Additionally, the court directed that Rs 4 lakh be provided as compensation to the District Legal Services Authority, Nuh, for the girl's rehabilitation and support, they added.
According to a police spokesperson, a 15-year-old schoolgirl from a village did not return home after going to school in 2023. Based on her family's complaint, a case was registered at the Nuh Women's Police Station.
The police arrested the accused Ram Kishor and he was sent into judicial custody. After this, the police filed a charge sheet against the accused in court. During the hearing, the court found the accused guilty based on the evidence and witness testimonies presented during the investigation and trial.
"In its order, the court said that, given the physical and mental trauma suffered by the victim, it is essential to provide her with adequate assistance and rehabilitation. To this end, compensation of Rs 4 lakh has been sanctioned."
According to the order, 75 per cent of the compensation amount will be placed in a nationalised bank as a fixed deposit for three years, while the remaining amount will be made available to the girl for immediate needs and expenses, added the spokesperson of Nuh police.
