Mohali, Sep 5 A woman who has filed a rape case against a social media influencer appeared before a Mohali court here on Saturday and opposed the cancellation report filed by police in the matter, her counsel said.
She had lodged a complaint of rape against Gurwinder Singh alias Guri Chahal and the FIR was registered on May 1 at the Sohana police Station.
Complainant's counsel H S Dhanoa said she appeared before the court and recorded her statement in which she opposed the cancellation report filed by police.
The matter assumes significance as opposition parties have been targeting Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's wife Gurpreet Kaur for allegedly seeking Rs 5 crore to suppress two rape cases -- one in Mohali and another in Amritsar.
However, Mann's wife has already rejected the charges as baseless.
Dhanoa told reporters that the woman was not satisfied with the investigation and would seek legal remedies available.
Dhanoa said police filed the cancellation report before the court on July 24, and the court had asked police to produce the victim before the court on September 5.
But she was not called and police did not contact her, Dhanoa alleged. She appeared before the court through our legal team, he further said.
The counsel said they would file an application, seeking a copy of the cancellation report. The court fixed September 19 as the next date in the matter.

The Shiromani Akali Dal held a protest on Saturday in Chandigarh against Mann's wife over allegations that she sought Rs 5 crore to suppress two rape cases, demanding the registration of an FIR against her.
