Thane, Sep 22 The Sessions Court at Kalyan in the district has acquitted nine men accused of attempting to murder a man as he and other witnesses did not identify them during the trial.
Additional Sessions Judge V A Patravale delivered the verdict on September 19. A copy of the order became available on Tuesday.
The court acquitted Sachin Nandu Shelke, Santosh Mukund Shelke, Kaluram Khandu Pawar, Ganesh Maruti Jadhav, Ulhas Krushna Chaudhari, Samir Rangnath Patole, Dinesh Madhukar Phodse, Krutik Jagan Bangar, and Krutik Rajaram Jadhav.
The incident had taken place near Danbao pond in Khadavli on April 26, 2021.
According to the prosecution, Nana Nago Shelar confronted two men when they were removing air from his vehicle's tires. The men accused him of being a local buffalo thief, abused him, and along with several others, assaulted him with wooden sticks, fists, and kicks before setting his tempo on fire.
But during trial, Shelar testified that although he had been assaulted, he could not identify any of the accused.
Two eyewitnesses too failed to support the prosecution's claims.
