Ballia (UP), Sep 30 A local court here has sentenced a man to 25 years in prison for abducting and raping a 14-year-old girl three years ago, a prosecution official said on Wednesday.
Prosecution Officer Vimal Kumar Rai said the girl, a resident of a village under the Dubahar police station area, was allegedly abducted by her neighbour Javed Khan alias Raja, 30, on April 25, 2023, following which he raped her.
On the complaint of the girl's father, a case was registered against Khan under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Rai said.
After completing the investigation, police filed a charge sheet against the accused before the court, he said.
Special Judge Pratham Kant heard the case and, after considering the arguments of all sides, convicted Khan on Tuesday and sentenced him to 25 years' imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000, Rai said.
