UP court sentences man to death for killing wife, 3 minor sons in 2021

Kushinagar (UP), Jul 31 A local court has sentenced a man to death for killing his wife and three minor sons by slitting their throats with a sharp-edged weapon in 2021, prosecutors said on Friday.


Additional Sessions Judge Parmeshwar Prasad on Thursday ordered that the convict, Jitendra Kushwaha, be “hanged by the neck till death”. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on the convict.


According to district government counsels G P Yadav and Sanjeev Kumar Singh, the case stemmed from a complaint lodged by Ramjeet Kushwaha, a resident of Mathiya Vishambhar Madhopur in August 2021.


Ramjeet's daughter Leelawati was married to Jitendra, a resident of Kudwa Dilipnagar village. The couple had three sons – Akash (8), Vikas (6) and Rinku (4).


The complainant alleged that Jitendra killed his wife and three children by slitting their throats with a sharp-edged weapon on August 26, 2021. The bodies were found inside the house when the family members reached the spot.


Police registered a murder case, recovered the murder weapon and arrested Jitendra. During the trial, the prosecution examined 12 witnesses.


Holding Jitendra guilty, the court awarded him the death sentence along with a fine of Rs 2 lakh on Thursday.
