Bijnor (UP), Sep 17 A court here on Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his wife, while his parents were awarded two years' imprisonment each in the case, police said.
Circle Officer, Dhampur, Anjani Kumar Chaturvedi said Mahendra Pal Singh had lodged a complaint alleging that his 26-year-old daughter Chitra was killed by her in-laws at Kagpur on August 13, 2024.
The woman had suffered a deep injury to the back of her head, police said.
Based on the complaint, police registered a dowry death case against Chitra's husband Sandeep, father-in-law Brijpal and mother-in-law Pramod Devi and subsequently filed a charge sheet before the court.
After completion of the trial, Additional Sessions Judge, Fast Track Court, Kamal Deep, convicted Sandeep and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
His parents were sentenced to two years in jail each, police said.
