Sonbhadra (UP), Aug 11 A court here on Tuesday sentenced a 48-year-old man to life imprisonment for sexually abusing two minor sisters, aged seven and nine, after finding him guilty under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Additional Sessions Judge for POCSO Act cases, Omkar Shukla, also imposed a fine of Rs 73,000 on the convict, Ali Faiyaz.

The trial was completed in less than five months of the registration of the case, officials said.

According to government counsel Dinesh Prasad Agrahari, father of the two girls lodged a complaint at Anpara police station on March 23, 2026, stating that his daughters had told their aunt that Faiyaz, who frequently visited their house, had been sexually harassing and touching them inappropriately for about a year.

The girls also told their family that the accused had threatened and intimidated them, the counsel said.

Police registered a case on the basis of the complaint and began the investigation. A chargesheet was filed in court within 10 days of registration of the case.

After hearing arguments from both sides and considering the evidence, the special POCSO court convicted Faiyaz and sentenced him to imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life.
