Nainital, Oct 7 Dehradun-based advocate Rajveer Bisht was elected president and Sushila Mehta was elected vice-president in Bar Council of Uttarakhand polls held on Wednesday. They were elected unopposed.
Senior advocate D K Sharma has been elected as a Bar Council of India (BCI) member from Uttarakhand for the third time.
Sharma is also the Co-Chairman of the Bar Council of India. He previously represented Uttarakhand in the BCI from 2004 to 2009 and again from 2018 to 2025.
Sharma is among the senior and prominent advocates practising before the Uttarakhand High Court. He was designated as a Senior Advocate in 2013.
He has previously served as Government Advocate and Senior Additional Advocate General for the Uttarakhand government. He has also served as president of the Uttarakhand High Court Bar Association and was the founder-president of the Udham Singh Nagar District Bar Association.
In February 2026, 23 members were elected to the Bar Council of Uttarakhand. Subsequently, two female advocates were inducted as co-opted members.
The tenure of the BCI member will be five years, while the term of the state Bar Council office-bearers will be one year. Eight different committees were also constituted during the election process.
