Allahabad HC adjourns Gyanvapi mosque Wazukhana ASI survey case till Oct 6

Prayagraj, Aug 24 The Allahabad High Court on Monday adjourned till October 6, 2026 the hearing of a case concerning the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey of the Wazukhana area of the Gyanvapi mosque until October 6, 2026, excluding the structure described by the Hindu side as a Shivlinga and by the Muslim side as a fountain.

Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal adjourned the hearing on a civil revision petition filed by Rakhi Singh, one of the plaintiffs, before a Varanasi court. The court was informed that the matter is currently being considered by the Supreme Court, with the next hearing date set for September 15, 2026.

In view of the said fact, the court deferred the proceedings of this case and directed that this case on October 6, 2026 along with connected matters, be listed for the next hearing.

The revision petition was filed challenging the order of the Varanasi District Judge issued on October 21, 2023, which refused to direct the ASI to survey the Wazukhana inside the Gyanvapi mosque. The petition was filed by Rakhi Singh as part of the Shringar Gauri worship suit before the Varanasi court.
