New Delhi, Sep 16 The National Green Tribunal (NGT) will hold a two-day international conference on the topic "The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics" at the Vigyan Bhavan here on September 19-20, according to a release issued on Wednesday.
The release said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the conference, while the valedictory session will have President Droupadi Murmu as the chief guest.
According to the release, the guests include Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal, Supreme Court judge B V Nagarathna, Attorney General R Venkataramani, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava.
"The conference will bring together eminent judges and judicial representatives from 17 countries, along with distinguished participants from India," the release said.
It said along with judges of constitutional courts, the event will see the participation of environmental experts, secretaries of various ministries, senior government officials, representatives of state judicial academies, district judges, state legal services authorities, state expert appraisal committees (SEACs), state environment impact assessment authorities (SEIAAs), state wetland authorities and other stakeholders.
"The wide-ranging participation is expected to facilitate the exchange of judicial approaches, scientific knowledge, environmental governance practices and institutional experiences across jurisdictions," the release said.
It said the conference aims to foster meaningful dialogue and identify gaps in policy formulation, implementation and enforcement, while promoting environmental awareness, sharing successful practices and strengthening cooperation among institutions and stakeholders.
"The conference provides a global platform to exchange judicial, scientific and policy best practices on critical climate challenges," the release said.
"By connecting environment, development and justice, it will build a forward-looking roadmap for a resilient, equitable and sustainable future," it added.
