Latur, Oct 6 In a shocking incident, an eight year-old girl, daughter of a daily wage labourer, was allegedly sexually assaulted by three minor boys in Latur city of Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in an area under the MIDC police station jurisdiction in the central Maharashtra city and the accused, one of them aged 16 and two 12-year-olds, have been detained, they said.
The girl lives with her mother, who works as a daily wage labourer to make ends meet, in a rented accommodation in the area. The three minor boys, living in the girl's neighbourhood, sexually assaulted her on Sunday, police said.
The MIDC police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the BNS against the boys, who have been sent to a juvenile observation home, they said.
Two of them were apprehended on Monday, while the third accused was held on Tuesday.
Assistant Police Inspector Suchita Shingade is investigating the case.
