Kaushambi (UP), Aug 1 A court here on Saturday sentenced two men to life imprisonment for murdering a couple in 2019 over a personal dispute.
Additional District Judge Prakash Chandra Shukla also imposed a fine of Rs 1.10 lakh on each convict.
Additional District Government Counsel (Criminal) Anil Kumar Dwivedi said that Roshan Lal, a resident of Puramufti, lodged an FIR on February 1, 2019, alleging that his brother and sister-in-law were stabbed to death by Shree Chandra and Ganna at their residence.
A case was registered and after investigation, police filed a chargesheet before the court. According to police, Shree Chandra and Ganna murdered the couple over a personal dispute.
After examining the prosecution's arguments, witness testimonies and evidence, the court sentenced the two convicts to life imprisonment, Dwivedi said.
It also imposed a fine of Rs 1.10 lakh on each convict, failure to pay which will result in an additional six months of imprisonment, he said.
Of the total amount of Rs 2.20 lakh, the counsel said, the court directed that Rs 1.70 lakh be paid as compensation to the children of the deceased couple.
