Nainital, September 16 A single-judge bench of the Uttarakhand High Court hearing the disproportionate assets case of state minister Ganesh Joshi said it did not deem it appropriate to pronounce the verdict due to "unavoidable circumstances" and referred it to the chief justice to constitute a new bench to hear the matter.
Justice Alok Mehra was hearing the matter and had reserved the verdict after concluding the hearing.
In its order, the single-judge bench noted that arguments in the case had concluded on September 8, following which the verdict was reserved.
However, instead of pronouncing the judgment on Tuesday, the bench directed that the case be placed before another bench.
Due to certain "unavoidable circumstances", the bench said it did not deem it appropriate to pronounce the judgment. It did not elaborate further on the matter.
The bench then directed the Registry to place the criminal revision petition before the chief justice for the constitution of a new bench.
Petitioner Vikesh Negi has alleged in his plea that the minister has amassed assets far exceeding his known sources of income. The court of the Special Judge (Vigilance)/Additional District Judge in Dehradun had dismissed Negi's petition in 2025, following which he challenged the order in the high court.
