Bhadohi (UP), Sep 16 A court here on Wednesday sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment for the murder of a 21-year-old man with a sharp-edged weapon in August 2024, a prosecution official said.
Additional Sessions Judge Durgesh also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh each on the three convicts -- Pintu Bind (35), Vishnu Bind (30) and Dinesh Bind (28) -- Assistant District Government Counsel Devendra Kumar Singh said.
The court directed that 90 per cent of the fine amount recovered from the convicts be paid to the family of the deceased, while the remaining 10 per cent be deposited in the state treasury, he said.
According to police, the incident took place on the evening of August 20, 2024, in Chakbhaura village under the Aurai police station area.
Superintendent of Police Abhinav Tyagi said Dhanesh Kumar Yadav was returning home on his motorcycle after delivering milk to a villager when the three accused, riding a scooter, allegedly hit his motorcycle and knocked him down.
The accused then allegedly attacked him repeatedly with a sharp-edged blade and slit his throat, the SP said. Dhanesh died while being taken to hospital.
A case was registered on August 21, 2024, on a complaint by the elder brother of the deceased and the police subsequently filed a chargesheet after investigation.
The police said the murder was committed due to this previous enmity.
After hearing both sides and examining the evidence and post-mortem report, the court convicted all three accused and awarded them life imprisonment, Singh said.
