TMCP foundation day events: Cal HC to hear rival groups' pleas on Aug 25

Kolkata, Aug 24 The Calcutta High Court will on Tuesday hear two separate petitions by the student wings of two rival TMC groups seeking permission to hold programmes on the Trinamool Chatra Parishad foundation day on August 28.


The lawyers for the two rival groups mentioned their respective petitions before the court, seeking an urgent hearing.


Justice Sougata Bhattacharyya said the two petitions will be taken up for hearing on Tuesday.


The Mamata Banerjee faction's lawyer Arko Nag mentioned the matter before the court, seeking an urgent hearing of its petition for permission to hold the programme at Mayo Road in central Kolkata on August 28.


He stated that the authorities have rejected their application for permission to hold the foundation day programme.


The lawyer for the other TMCP group also mentioned its petition, seeking permission to hold the programme at the same venue at the same time.
